Assumptions

The following are the discharge conditions:
1) 280,000 gals discharged for one week starting 1200 Tuesday July 16, 2002
2) Equal amounts discharged on the surface from 2 outfalls ST 28 (84” outfall) and CSO 17 (54” outfall).
3) Initial fecal coliform concentration assumed to be 1,000,000 colonies/100ml.
4) Sun light intensity equal to 30-year daily mean in the Seattle area and averaged light extinction coefficient in the Inlet.

Sewage spill estimate revised downward

Bremerton officials now say the amount of sewage spilled into Sinclair
Inlet is half their original estimate of 560,000 gallons, according to
Stuart Whitford of the Kitsap County Health District.
The new estimate is 280,000 gallons, he said, which still would be the
largest sewage spill in Bremerton in many years.
Whitford said the health district's advisory against swimming or other
water contact will remain in effect until Tuesday, as originally

Huge sewage spill closes local beaches

• The spill is greater than any seen in Bremerton for many years.
Bremerton's multimillion-dollar stormwater-separation project, designed to reduce sewage spills, set the stage for the largest sewage spill seen in Bremerton for many years.
The spill, reported Tuesday, was estimated as high as 560,000 gallons of raw sewage released into Sinclair Inlet, said Bremerton public works director Gene Sampley.
Local health officials are advising people to stay out of the water in Sinclair Inlet and Port Washington Narrows — including Lions Field and Evergreen Park — for at least the next week. ...
